ENJOY A HEALTHIER WINTER!
Want to know how my family has a HEALTHIER Winter? Or, how we strengthened Eric's immune system after 2 cancer battles and a stem cell transplant? There's LOTS of things you can and should do to support and build your immune system, of course... but one of the most important steps we take, especially in the Winter months, is taking Elderberry Syrup! Elderberry (along with a few other important ingredients, in the right ratios) can help support your immune system - so that when you DO get a cold or flu bug, it is shorter, less severe, and less likely to lead to a secondary infection like bronchitis, pneumonia, or a sinus infection! (see studies linked below)*
We've been taking Elderberry Syrup since 2017 and every year I adjust my ingredient ratios to improve my recipe! This past year was my most effective formulation yet and I'm excited to share it with you in an easy (and darling) DIY Kit!
A PERSONAL NOTE: I'm not a doctor or any kind of medical professional - just a dedicated wife and mom that wants to take the best care of my family possible! As always, do your own research - but from one mom to another... This was a GAME CHANGER for our family, and I hope it is for yours, too!
PRODUCT INFORMATION:
- INGREDIENTS (included in packet): Elderberry, Cinnamon, Ginger, Star Anise, Cloves
- ALSO INCLUDES: Written recipe instructions, serving suggestions, and 2.5" Round sticker to label your jar
- DOES NOT INCLUDE: Jar or Honey (recipe requires 1 cup of honey)
- YIELD: This recipe will yield 24-26 oz of Elderberry Syrup (variance depends on how much liquid you simmer off and how much you squeeze/press from the berries)
- SHELF LIFE: The dry packet is good for 1 year; once made, the syrup is good for 8-12 weeks when stored in a jar in the fridge.
- NET WEIGHT (of dry ingredients in packet): 4.5 oz
RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS: Add contents to 4 cups cool water; bring to a light boil, stirring occasionally. Turn heat down and simmer uncovered for 20 minutes. Remove from heat, lightly mash with a potato masher, then cover, let sit for 1 hour to cool. Pour through a mesh strainer; mesh is best, it will catch the pulp/seeds (or use cheesecloth). Press with spoon to express more juice from the berries, then discard. Add 1 cup of honey to sweeten & thicken; stir until honey is dissolved. Pour into mason jar, label with sticker provided. Store in the fridge; shelf life is 8-12 weeks once made.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS: Take 1 teaspoon prepared syrup daily for immune support during cold/flu season OR take 1 TBSP 3-4x daily at early onset of cold/flu symptoms. For children under 12... half the dose. Not recommended for children under age one (due to honey content).
